How a Denver ghost tour works

  1. 1

    Pick your night

Ghost tours run after dark and the good ones sell out on weekends. Check the widget above for what is actually running while you are in Denver.

  2. 2

    Book with free cancellation

Most of these can be cancelled up to 24 hours before, so booking early costs nothing and holding out costs you the good guide.

  3. 3

    Turn up where they say

This one meets at Tours begin outside of the Colorado State Capitol Building, by the east entrance steps. You can look for the Native American statue called "The Closing Era" halfway down Grant at Grant & Colfax.

  4. 4

    Wear the right shoes

You will be walking on old, uneven, badly lit ground for an hour or more. It is the advice every operator gives and most visitors ignore.

Sort by

They built a park on it

A cemetery they built a park on

Denver's darkest story is municipal, documented, and still under your feet.

Cheesman Park

Denver's most-told ghost story is that a city cemetery was converted to parkland and the removal of the graves was done badly and incompletely. It is the substance of most Denver ghost walks, and unlike a lot of this genre it is a matter of public record rather than folklore.

A young city, and it shows

Denver was founded in 1858, so the dark history on offer is mining money, saloons and frontier violence rather than colonial. Larimer Square is the oldest block and it is where the material concentrates.

A moderate field

There is more here than in Memphis or Richmond and less than in Charleston - enough to choose between, which is the threshold that matters. Denver is also a mile above sea level, and while a downtown walk is flat, visitors arriving from the coast routinely underestimate what altitude does to a cold evening on foot.

What a night here actually costs

Denver's 5 bookable tours start at $26.32 and run to $40, against a national ghost-tour median of $30 measured across 208 products. That puts Denver squarely in the typical band. The middle half of all ghost tours runs $25 to $39.25, this city sits inside it, and price is therefore not the variable worth optimising here. With 5 products the field is small but real - enough to choose between, not enough for competition to have weeded much out. Read the review counts rather than assuming. We feature it on price and review depth rather than on quoted reviews - GetYourGuide has not surfaced review prose for this product, and we would rather say so than show you another tour's reviews under its name.

★★★★★
It was very fun and we loved the stories that were told. The history that was embedded in the stories was super interesting, and I loved our guide's comparison to other places he has lived. He also showed us pictures from other patrons at various sites so we could see that others have captured images. Ultimately, he was a great storyteller, very personable and easy to listen to!

★★★★★
Loved this tour! Our guide Sue was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the city and came prepared with a binder full of photographs of the area and people she talked about. We stayed within a small radius in the city, and in areas she spoke in depth about we found seating - so don’t worry there’s not too much walking (especially if your acclimating to the altitude). This is a great introduction to the city! Highly recommend it!
